High school student charged with assaulting other student in school

MONTICELLO – Village Police in Monticello have arrested a 17-year-old Monticello High School student for allegedly punching out a 16-year-old male student at the school.

Quentin Branch was charged with felony assault in the second degree and misdemeanor petit larceny.

Branch was arrested following an investigation on Monday where the other youth was assaulted by Branch at 12:30 p.m. in a hallway at the school.

The two students were involved in a dispute over a theft of headphones from an IPod.

During the dispute, Branch punched the victim several times in the face, causing facial fractures and a broken nose, police said.
