Man receives 40 stitches to chin, suspect
charged with assault
POUGHKEEPSIE – A 22-year-old Town of Poughkeepsie man has
been charged by town police with second-degree assault and criminal
possession of weapon in the fourth degree for allegedly attacking
another man.
Police said the arrest of Albert Hughes of Cherry Hill Drive stems
from an altercation that took place at the Vassar Gardens Apartments
on Fulton Avenue in the Town of Poughkeepsie. The incident occurred
around 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 26.
The victim told police he was struck in the face with a metal sign
and sign post as he attempted to break up the altercation.
The victim was treated at a local hospital where he received 40
stitches to his chin.
Police investigated and identified Hughes as the suspect. He was
arraigned in town court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail
on $10,000 bail or $20,000 bond.
