Three
arrested for possession of prescription narcotics
TARRYTOWN -- Two men and one woman from the Capital Region are
facing drug possession charges after a routine traffic stop by Troopers
assigned to State Police at Tarrytown. The street value of the seized
pills is some $10,000, police said.
In the early morning hours of Wednesday, June 25, troopers conducted
a traffic stop of a 1993 Toyota northbound on the New York State
Thruway in the Village of South Nyack.
A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed quantities of the narcotics
Oxycodone and Hydrocodone, quantities of the sedative Clonazepam
and the depressant Diazepam along with several hypodermic needles.
Those in the vehicle were identified as Maxwell Jones, 20, of Chatham,
Luke Pickett, 19, of Guilderland, Sarah Mellin, 19, of Hudson.
All three were charged with criminal possession of a controlled
substance in the fourth and fifth degrees and criminal possession
of a hypodermic instrument.
Jones was also charged with criminal possession of a controlled
substance in the seventh degree and driving while ability impaired
by drugs. Pickett was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.
