Man arrested for burglarizing convenience stole

MONTICELLO – A 36-year-old Monticello man was arrested shortly before midnight late Saturday night and charged with burglarizing a Citgo convenience store at 117 Jefferson Street in Monticello early Friday morning.

Robert Farrar was charged with burglary in the third degree, criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree and possession of burglary tools.

Farrar allegedly chopped through a wall to get inside the store.

He stole several rolls of coins, cartons of cigarettes and lottery scratch off tickets, police said.

Police investigated and arrested him at his home in the Horizon apartment complex at Harmony Lane, still in possession of several stacks of lottery tickets, cartons of cigarettes and rolled coins stolen during the burglary.

Also arrested and charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree for possessing some of the stolen lottery tickets, were Marlon Hines, 37, Nichelle Hinton, 39, and Naika Brown, 38, all of Monticello.

They were released on appearance tickets to return to village court.
