| Two
charged in connection with cabbie’s murder
WHITE PLAINS – a Tuckahoe man was arraigned Friday on a charge
of murder in the second degree for allegedly stabbing a cab driver
to death in May.
Dequan Duncan, 26, was also charged with tampering physical evidence
and criminal possession of a weapon, all in connection with the
death of cabbie Geraldo Gutierrez.
Another man, Adam Arroyo, 26, of Yonkers, was also arraigned on
charges relating to the homicide. He was charged with two counts
of hindering prosecution in the first degree and tampering with
physical evidence, both felonies.
On May 22 at about 11 p.m., Duncan hired a cab to take him from
his Tuckahoe home to a Yonkers address, said District Attorney Janet
DiFiore. When he arrived in Yonkers, he allegedly got out of the
cab, walked up to the driver’s window and stabbed the driver
several times in the neck and chest.
During the attack, the driver sped from the scene and crashed into
a telephone pole several blocks away. He was rushed to a hospital
where he was pronounced dead.
Duncan met up with Arroyo and both men fled to Arroyo’s house
where they hid the murder weapon.
Duncan was remanded to the Westchester County Jail without bail
and Arroyo’s bail was continued.
