Two charged with trying to steal cable from telephone poles

FISHKILL – Two Orange County men have been arrested by Fishkill Town Police on charges that they attempted t steal Verizon cable from several telephone poles. The incident occurred in the area of Route 9D near the Dutchess Manor.

Over $10,000 worth of damages were caused by the attempted theft, police said.

Arrested were Michael Hasher, 27, of Pine Bush and Edward Sheskier of Middletown. They were charged with attempted grand larceny in the third degree, and criminal mischief in the second degree, both felonies, and possession of burglary tools, a misdemeanor.

Both men were remanded to the Dutchess County Jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.

The arrests occurred after a Fishkill town police lieutenant saw the men attempting to steal the cable.
