Westchester man pleads guilty to vehicular
manslaughter
WHITE PLAINS – A Mount Vernon man Friday pled guilty to vehicular
manslaughter in connection with the death of a passenger in his
car.
Jonathan Hurst, 23, was pled guilty to vehicular assault in the
first degree and DWI.
Hurst and two friends were returning from a night out in White Plains
at 2 a.m. on August 30, 2007 when a Scarsdale police officer saw
the vehicle speeding northbound on Boston Post Road.
As he began to follow the car, he saw Hurst run off the road and
crash head on into a telephone pole. His front seat passenger was
killed on impact and the rear seat passenger sustained serious injuries.
Hurst’s blood alcohol content was .17, more than twice the
legal limit.
When sentenced in September Hurst faces a maximum of 2 ½
to seven years in state prison.
