| Two
charged in stolen credit card theft
NEWBURGH – Two Wappingers Falls residents face a number of
charges following the use of stolen credit cards in the Town of
Newburgh.
Tabatha Vitolo, 21, and Autsen Riordan, 19, were charged late Wednesday
following an investigation into a stolen credit card spree that
occurred on Monday, June 9.
A Town of Newburgh man reported on Monday that his wallet with
credit cards was stolen from a locker at a local gym while he worked
out. A check with the credit card companies revealed the use of
the cards began minutes after they were stolen. Purchases were either
made or attempted at two McDonalds and eight Newburgh Mall stores.
The purchases were of generally small items.
Riordan was charged with one count of grand larceny in the fourth
degree for stealing the credit cards, 10 counts of petit larceny
or attempted petit larceny, several counts of criminal possession
of stolen property in the fifth degree and four counts of forgery
in the second degree. He was arraigned and sent to the Orange County
Jail on $10,000 bail.
Vitolo was charged with four counts of petit larceny, one count
of forgery in the second degree, and four counts of criminal possession
of stolen property in the fifth degree. She was remanded to the
Orange County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bail.
Police said Vitolo was a member of the gym where the theft took
place and Riordan was her guest on June 9.
