Guilty plea in assault, robbery
NEW CITY – One of two men, who allegedly beat up a man and
stole his money, Wednesday pled guilty to a charge of first-degree
robbery.
According to Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Zugibe, Marvin
Rolando Sandoval-Galvez, 31, and Elvis Jiminez-Osorio, 32, both
of Spring Valley, acted together on December 17, 2007 and robbed
a man of his money.
The victim had been lured into the basement of an unoccupied building
with the promise of work. Once there he was hit over the head several
times with a two-by-four piece of wood. They then rummaged through
his pockets and stole money.
The victim was left lying unconscious and the two men fled the scene.
They were spotted by two workers at another building next door.
When the victim regained consciousness the next day, he was able
to provide the identity of his assailants, the DA said.
After investigation by Spring Valley Police, Sandoval-Galvez and
Jiminez-Osorio were arrested and charged with first-degree robbery.
On Monday, June 9, Sandoval-Galvez pled guilty and faces 12 years
in prison when sentenced in August.
