Sullivan County man indicted for shooting
step-daughter in the head
MONTICELLO – A Livingston Manor man was indicted Wednesday
on a charge of attempted murder in the second degree for allegedly
shooting his stepdaughter in the head and hand.
The girl, who was in the hospital for a week after the April 27
incident, is recovering at home, said Chief Assistant District Attorney
James Farrell.
Isabelino Diaz, 55, was also indicted on two counts of criminal
possession of a weapon in the second degree and assault in the first
degree.
The indictment alleges that Diaz attempted to kill the girl at their
home in Livingston Manor by firing a handgun directly at her head
several times.
Farrell said the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute.
“Clearly the evidence suggests there was a domestic dispute
and it resulted in the allegations in the indictment that he pulled
out a gun and shot her in the head and the hand and inflicted gunshot
wounds to both areas.”
Diaz faces up to 25 years in state prison in convicted of the top
charges. He is being held in the Sullivan County Jail without bail
pending arraignment on the indictment.
