Friar sentenced to state prison on sexual
abuse plea
QWHITE PLAINS – A Monticello man, who was said to be a friar
in Yonkers, was sentenced Tuesday in Westchester County Court to
seven years in state prison on his guilty plea to sexual abuse in
the first degree.
Dominic Bokulich, 35, also known as Brother Leopold, also pled guilty
to course of sexual conduct against a child in the second degree
and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Between November 2005 and June 2007, Bokulich sexually abused four
boys the ages of four and 14.
He assaulted the boys at their home, where he did handiwork for
the family, and at a retreat location operated by the Franciscan
Friars of the renewal.
During the course of the abuse, one of the boys came forward and
reported Bokulich.
In addition to his prison sentence, he will be required to serve
five years post release supervision and must register as a sex offender.
