| Man charged with raping young girl MIDDLETOWN – State Police have charged a 49-year-old Rock Tavern man with first-degree rape for allegedly having sex with a now 14-year-old girl when she was seven. George Babcock, Jr., a family acquaintance, allegedly had sex with the girl while they lived in a mother-daughter house on Mount Hope Road in Mount Hope. He was having a relationship with another woman living in the house, police said. The sexual assault allegedly occurred during the summer of 2000. Babcock was arraigned and remanded to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail. |
