Three charged in credit card theft case
CHESTER – A 21-year-old Chester man has been arrested by
Village of Chester Police for allegedly stealing credit cards from
a car in an apartment parking lot and using them to run up about
$1,000 worth of charges including a limousine ride to New York City.
Kyle Skala was charged with 47 felony counts of forgery in the second
degree, identity theft in the second degree and criminal possession
of stolen property in the fourth degree. He was also charged with
63 misdemeanor counts of petit larceny, unlawful possession of personal
ID in the third degree, theft of services and conspiracy in the
fifth degree, said Chester Village Police Chief Peter Graziano,
Jr.
“He had rented a limo and took a ride to New York City,”
he said. “They had visited various stores and purchases beer
and cigarettes and just a variety of items totaling about $1,000.”
Skala is being held in the Orange County Jail on $100,000 bail.
Two teens, a 17-year-old male from Florida, NY and a 16-year-old
female from Chester, were each charged with 22 misdemeanor counts
of petit larceny, theft of services and conspiracy in the fifth
degree. They are being held in the Orange County Jail on $10,000
bail each.
Chester Graziano, Jr. said credit cards and a driver’s license
were stolen from a vehicle at the Knollcrest Village apartments
in Chester on May 16. The cards were used over a three-day period.
Skala and the two teens were arrested after a three-week investigation.
