Man passes funny money to Thruway toll collector

TARRYTOWN – A 23-year-old North Bergen, NJ man has been charged with passing a phony $100 bill to a toll collector at the Woodbury Toll Plaza of the Thruway.
State Police charged Asad Awawdeh with criminal possession of a forged instrument in the first degree.

He was traveling southbound on the Thruway when he entered the Woodbury Toll Plaza en route back to New Jersey and gave the toll collect the bill.

The collector spotted discrepancies in bill and determined it was fake. State police were called and Awawdeh was arrested.

He was arraigned and remanded to the Orange County jail on $5,000 bail.
