Violent street gang members arrested during
16 month investigation
POUGHKEEPSIE – A special crime task force in Dutchess County
has been investigating a street gang calling itself the Rollin 20z
Crips, and Friday, police said they have arrested five members are
continuing their investigation.
The Dutchess County Field Intelligence group in partnership with
the state Department of Criminal Justice Services and Operation
IMPACT have been gathering intelligence, monitoring and investigating
the gang for the last 16 months. Together they have worked on gang
activity including larceny, assaults, shootings, gang assaults,
illegal drugs, criminal possession of weapons, criminal possession
of defaces and modified weapons, robberies, burglaries and arson.
Those arrested so far are Nicholas Benson, 18, Michael Horowitz,
17, and Daniel Bradby, 18, all from the City of Poughkeepsie; Lamar
Porter, 19, of the Lagrange, and Anthony Marron, 18, of the City
of Beacon.
Most recently, the Rollin 20z Crips has been responsible for the
armed robbery of the 7-11 on Route 9 in Wappinger, the armed robbery
of the Dunkin Donuts on Main Street in the Town of Poughkeepsie,
strong armed robberies in the City of Poughkeepsie and a burglary
of a residence in the Town of Hyde Park in which a large number
of firearms were stolen.
Police have executed several search warrants throughout Dutchess
County yielding a dozen firearms, a bulletproof vest, narcotics,
stolen property and gang paraphernalia.
The investigation is continuing.
