Teen arrested for shooting man in back

MONTICELLO – Monticello Village Police have charged a 17-year-old Evergreen Drive resident with shooting a man in the back with a semi-automatic handgun while in the parking lot behind the Stewarts convenience store on Forestburg Road.

Charged with first-degree assault and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon was Daquan Kareem Gray.

It is alleged that on Sunday, May 4 at 9:230 p.m., he shot a 22-year-old Monticello man, who suffered a collapsed lung and required emergency surgery.

Gray is already currently on five years’ probation in Sullivan County for a conviction of robbery in the third degree.

Sullivan County Sheriff’s deputies assisted village police during the investigation.
