Man sentenced for leasing scene of auto
death
WHITE PLAINS – A Mohegan Lake man was sentenced in Westchester
County Court Tuesday to two to four years in state prison for leaving
the scene of an incident without reporting it and criminally negligent
homicide, both felonies.
At about 11 p.m. on September 12, 2007, David Rogonia, 30, and the
victim were driving in Mount Kisco when Rogonia lost control of
his 1987 Mustang, which rolled over. The victim was ejected from
the car and died and died of injuries he suffered the following
day.
Rogonia got out of the rolled over car, saw the victim on the grown
unconscious and injured, and fled the scene without seeking help.
A witness heard the crash and saw Rogonia take off. Police at the
scene found his driver’s license and confirmed that was the
man who fled.
When contacted by police the following day, he turned himself in.
