Former convenience store employee charged with stealing deposit bags

MONTICELLO – A 19-year-old former employee of the Stewart’s Shop on Forestburg Road in Monticello has been charged with illegally entering the store and stealing two night deposit bags containing $3,525 in cash.

Village of Monticello Police arrested Robert Lee Donato with third-degree burglary and third-degree grand larceny.

It is alleged that Donato entered the store early in the morning on April 16 by using the alarm pass codes he had while he worked there and then stole the two bags.

He was arrested on Saturday, April 26, arraigned and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail without bail pending a further court appearance.
