Dutchess motorcyclist killed in auto crash

UNION VALE – A motorcyclist was killed when he was struck while riding on Wingdale Mountain road in the Town of Union Vale Sunday evening.

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as Matthew Alexander, 40, of Wingdale.

Police said a car driven by Michael Didonato, 72, of Bluffton, South Carolina, crossed lanes and struck the motorcycle.

Both men were taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie was Alexander was pronounced dead. Didonato was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

He was ticketed for failure to keep right.
