Arrest made in 1994 murder
POUGHKEEPSIE – City of Poughkeepsie Police have made an arrest
in a 1994 murder.
Police charged Earnest Ellison, 34, of Lenox Avenue in New York
City was arrested for second-degree murder in connection with the
shotgun killing of Theresa Paige McIntosh, 37, of 4 North White
Street.
He was also charged with attempted murder in the second degree,
assault in the first and second degrees and criminal possession
of a weapon for shooting Joyery McIntosh, 33, also a resident of
Poughkeepsie. The two women were sisters. At the time of the shootings,
Ellison lived in Poughkeepsie, said Det. Lt. William Siegrist.
The shooting occurred on August 5, 1994. After a review of the evidence
and re-interview of witnesses, evidence was presented to the grant
jury and on April 17, an arrest warrant was issued for Ellison.
Ellison was identified after a cold case investigation by Detectives
Robert Perrotta and Lawrence Bartolotti of the Poughkeepsie City
Police along with Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office
Bureau Chief Edward Whitesell.
“I think they did a marvelous job. It took a lot of footwork
to do this one because it was not done so much by modern forensics
as it was good old detective work,” he said.
Ellison was picked up in the Bronx Wednesday by members of the
State Police Violent Felony Warrant Squad, who transported him back
to Poughkeepsie.
He was arraigned and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without
bail.
