Stabbing in Newburgh
NEWBURGH – A 28-year-old Newburgh man is in the hospital
suffering from stab wounds after he was attacked early Friday morning.
The man was walking home in the area of Mill and Hasbrouck streets
at around 12:10 a.m. when he was approached by another man who asked
him if he knew “Vic”. The victim said he did not, and
the suspect asked him for money. The victim told him he had $4 and
continued walking.
Police Lt. Charles Broe, Sr. said at that point, the suspect attacked
the man.
The victim felt a severe pain in his back and turned to see the
suspect stabbing him.
The victim began to run away and the suspect fled the scene in
a black newer model Toyota SUV. The victim told police there was
a female in the front passenger seat.
The victim described the suspect as a Hispanic male, about 5 feet,
8 inches tall, 140 pounds and about 20 years old. He was wearing
glasses, a black sweater and a white t-shirt.
The victim suffered stab wounds to his lower back and buttocks area.
He was taken to St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital emergency room
and transported to Westchester Medical Center for non-life-threatening
injuries, according to police.
