Woman pleads guilty to criminally negligent homicide

WHITE PLAINS – A Yonkers woman Thursday pled guilty to criminally negligent homicide in connection with the death of a man while she had five times the dose of Oxycodone in her blood.

Dawn Kargbo, 30, also pled guilty to two counts of assault in the third degree and infractions of the state vehicle and traffic law in the death of Alberto Cruz.

On July 27, 2006, at about 10:30 a.m., Kargbo was driving on Bronx River Road when she cross a double yellow line as well as a yellow safety zone and drove head on into a van operated by Cruz.
He died a month after the crash from injuries he sustained.

Four other family members ranging in age from 13 to 66 were also in the van and sustained injuries.
