Woman pleads guilty to criminally negligent
homicide
WHITE PLAINS – A Yonkers woman Thursday pled guilty to criminally
negligent homicide in connection with the death of a man while she
had five times the dose of Oxycodone in her blood.
Dawn Kargbo, 30, also pled guilty to two counts of assault in the
third degree and infractions of the state vehicle and traffic law
in the death of Alberto Cruz.
On July 27, 2006, at about 10:30 a.m., Kargbo was driving on Bronx
River Road when she cross a double yellow line as well as a yellow
safety zone and drove head on into a van operated by Cruz.
He died a month after the crash from injuries he sustained.
Four other family members ranging in age from 13 to 66 were also
in the van and sustained injuries.
Kargbo will be sentenced in April of next year and faces up to four
years in state prison.
