POUGHKEEPSIE – Police have arrested a man who held up the TD Banknorth branch at 21 Market Street in the City of Poughkeepsie shortly before 10 a.m. on Thursday.

The man, who police identified as Anthony Scott Elting, 41, of Parker Avenue in Poughkeepsie, was arrested in the afternoon for robbery in the first degree.

He was identified by detectives through the bank’s surveillance system.

Elting entered the bank and gave a teller a note demanding money and stating that he had a bomb. He displayed a black plastic bag containing unknown contents while told the teller to give him money.
