Woodstock man charged with soliciting 13-year-old boy

SAUGERTIES – A 67-year-old Woodstock man was charged Saturday soliciting asexual acts from a juvenile.

Town of Saugerties Police charged Max Schwartz of 1610 Glasco Turnpike with criminal solicitation in the third degree as a felony and endangering the welfare of a child as a misdemeanor.

At about 1:30 p.m., Schwartz allegedly approached the boy in the area of his residence and solicited sex acts, which would have constituted an act of second-degree rape, police said.

The boy fled the area and told his parents what happened. They called police and town detectives interviewed Schwartz and filed the charges against him.

He was arraigned in Town of Saugerties Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
