Teens charged with several burglaries
WURTSBORO – State Police at Wurtsboro have arrested two teens
ages 16 and 17, both from Bloomingburg, for burglary in the second
degree, a felony, following an investigation into the forcible entry
into a residence in the Bloomingburg area and the theft of jewelry,
cash and electronics.
While being interviewed, the teens implicated themselves in several
other larcenies from vehicles in the Bloomingburg area, police said.
Several items of stolen property were recovered from the two.
The 17-year-old was also charged with two counts of grand larceny
in the fourth degree, felonies, for stealing a rifle and shotgun
from an unlocked vehicle.
The 16-year-old was also charged with an additional burglary in
the second degree, a felony, and criminal possession of stolen property
in the fifth degree, a misdemeanor.
The 17-year-old was arraigned and remanded to the Sullivan County
Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.
The 16-year-old, who was a minor at the time of the burglary, was
issued a Family Court appearance ticket and released to his parents.
The investigation is continuing and more charges are expected, police
said.
