Guilty plea in Westchester death
WHITE PLAINS – A 30-year-old Mohegan Lake man pled guilty
in Westchester County Court in Tuesday to leaving the scene of an
incident without reporting and criminally negligent homicide.
On September 12, 2007 at about 11 p.m., David Rogonia and the victim,
Douglas Srour, were driving in the vicinity of 201 West Main Street
in Mount Kisco where Rogonia lost control of his 1987 Mustang, which
rolled over.
The victim was ejected and sustained injuries. He died on September
13, 2007.
Rogonia got out of the vehicle after the accident, saw the victim
on the ground, apparently unconscious and injured, and fled without
seeking help and without leaving contact information.
A witness heard the crash and saw Rogonia flee the area. Police
found his driver’s license and confirmed with the witness
that it was the man he saw.
He finally contacted the police and turned himself in on September
13.
When sentenced, he faces seven years in state prison.
