Teen arrested for slashing ex-girlfriend,
stealing car
MIDDLETOWN – For the second time this week, a teenage former
boyfriend stands accused of assault in connection with an ex-girlfriend.
Middletown City Police early Friday morning arrested Norman Scarpello
of 32 Palmer Avenue in Middletown on assault and robbery charges.
He is accused of assaulting his former girlfriend and robbing her
of her car. The incident occurred at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday in
the area of Railroad Avenue.
The victim was called by Scarpello and told to meet him. When they
did, he cut her on the neck with a knife and stole her 2005 Honda
Civic. The victim went to Orange Regional Medical Center for treatment
and released.
Middletown Police searched for Scarpello throughout the night and
at 1:30 a.m. Friday, they arrested him at his home.
He was charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree assault
and criminal possession of a weapon.
In Rhinebeck Wednesday night, another 17-year-old, Nicholas Usuriello
of Clinton Corners, was charged with attacking the parents of his
former girlfriend in their home with machete-like knives. He inflicted
a minor wound on the girl’s mother, but cut the father in
his head and severed his thumb.
He was charged with burglary and assault in the first degree, second-degree
assault and criminal possession of a weapon. |
