Predatory rapist sentenced to 40 years to
life
WHITE PLAINS – A 47-year-old man who was convicted of the
abduction and rape of a 12-year-old New York City girl was sentenced
in Westchester County Court Thursday to 40 years to life in state
prison.
William Davis had approached the child on December 28, 2006 on
a street in the Gravesend section of Brooklyn, aware that she had
lost her cell phone. He told her he was a cop and offered to help
her find the phone.
During the search, the girl got into Davis’ car. The phone
was recovered and under the pretext of verifying the phone actually
belonged to the girl, she was taken to the Ardsley Acres Motel in
Westchester County where she was held against her will and raped.
Following an investigation, Davis was arrested.
He was found guilty in august 2007 of four counts each of predatory
sexual assault and of predatory sexual assault against a child;
one count of kidnapping in the second degree; two counts each of
sexual abuse in the first and second degrees, and one count of endangering
the welfare of a child.
This is the first time in Westchester that the predatory sexual
assault and predatory sexual assault against a child statutes have
been used in a prosecution.
