Marijuana growing operation seized
TOWN OF THOMPSON – Authorities Tuesday broke up a large indoor
marijuana growing operation and arrested five people.
At about 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, deputies from the Sullivan County
Sheriff’s Office and investigators from the Sullivan County
District Attorney’s Office executed a search warrant at 490
Hamilton Road in the Town of Thompson.
There they discovered a large indoor marihuana growing operation.
Five people were taken into custody and approximately 300 plants
were seized.
Some were as tall as four feet. Deputies also confiscated fertilizer,
grow lights, and irrigation equipment.
Charged with first-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a felony,
were Mariano Rosario, 56, of 3569 Broadway in New York, Juan Infante,18,,
of 85 Fulton Ave Brooklyn, Osvaldo Figueroa, 32, of 1015 Nelson
Avenue in the Bronx, Jose Rojas, 45, of 374 Wadsworth Avenue in
New York, and Carmen Amarante, 30, of 1015 Nelson Avenue in the
Bronx.
