clerk charged with pulling switchblade on customers
MONTICELLO – Police have charged a Monticello store clerk
with threatening two customers with a switchblade knife.
Monticello Village Police said two customers, a man and woman, went
to the Verizon store at 384 Broadway with the intention to add a
line to an existing account.
They got into a verbal dispute with the store clerk, Shereem Burch,
27, of Monticello, and left the store with the intention of going
to another store in Middletown.
As they were leaving the driveway of the store, Burch continued
to argue with the male customer who then stopped the car.
At that point, Burch allegedly pulled the knife and threatened
them with the knife.
Burch was arrested by police and charged with felony criminal possession
of a weapon in the third degree and misdemeanor menacing in the
second degree.
He was arraigned and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu
of $7,500 bail.
