14-year-old charged with box cutter slashing

TOWN OF WALLKILL – Police have arrested a 14-year-old boy and charged him as a juvenile with second-degree assault for allegedly slashing another 14-year-old boy across the case with a box cutter.

The victim sustained cuts across his lip and chin area and required several stitches to close the wounds.

The incident occurred after 9 p.m. on Sunday at the Citgo convenience store on Industrial Drive in the Town of Wallkill. The victim had been a patrol at the store and was confronted by the other youth. They knew each other, argued for a moment and then the assailant pulled out the box cutter and attacked the other boy.

The suspect fled, but was later apprehended and arrested by Wallkill Police. He was released to the custody of his mother and issued an appearance ticket returned in Orange County Family Court.
