Two arrested on felony drug charges

MONTICELLO – Village Police in Monticello have arrested two people on felony drug charges.

Jamal Rhodes, 31, of reading, PA and Jean Laurent, 23, of Queens Village, NY, were arrested on Monday evening.

Police stopped the truck they were in on Broadway. A driver’s license check of Rhodes revealed he had a suspended New York license with 10 suspensions. He was arrested for aggravated unlicensed operation in the second degree.

A search of the truck turned up 5.6 grams of crack cocaine in a plastic bag wrapped in a paper towel under the front seat.

Both men were remanded to the Sullivan County Jail without bail pending future court action.
