Stolen rifle recovered

TOWN OF WALLKILL – A 21-year-old City of Newburgh man has been charged by Wallkill Police with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal sale of a firearm, both felonies.

Police were called to Harriet’s Motel in Wallkill on Monday, March 17 where a man told them someone tried to sell him a rifle.

Investigation revealed the firearm, a Ruco Arms 22 cal., w as reported stolen on February 29 from a parked car on Dogwood Drive in the Town of Newburgh.

Police arrested Columbus Vann of Liberty Street in Newburgh. He was arraigned and remanded to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail.
