Westchester man pleads guilty to vehicular
manslaughter
WHITE PLAINS – A 28-year-old White Plains Monday pled guilty
to vehicular manslaughter in the first degree and DWI as a felony
and misdemeanor in connection with the death of another man.
Shaheed Emery was driving his girlfriend’s car at 4:30 a.m.
on August 24, 2007. While on the Sprain Parkway, he was observed
by witnesses traveling at a high rate of speed. The car crashed
on the side of the parkway, killing the front seat passenger, Jamiel
Neal, 26, of White Plains.
Emery and a back seat passenger were both injured.
Emery pled guilty to two counts of vehicular manslaughter in the
first degree and the other charges.
When sentenced in June, he faces five to 15 years in state prison.
