Three brothers indicted for New Year’s
Day murder
GOSHEN – Three men who are brothers have been indicted in
connection with the murder of another Newburgh man on January 1,
2008.
Elisha Stubbs was shot and killed on New Year’s Day and an
investigation by Newburgh City Police led to the arrests of the
three suspects.
Charged with second-degree murder were John Williams, 24, and Supreme
Williams, 26. A Third brother, James Williams, 23, was indicted
on a charge of attempted murder in the second degree. The other
two men were also indicted on that charge, said District Attorney
Frank Phillips.
It is alleged that before the murder, the three tried to kill Stubbs
earlier in the day. The tried again later and killed their victim.
The brothers were also charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
John and James Williams were arrested on February 7 and Supreme
Williams was arrested on February 27.
