Stabbing in Poughkeepsie
POUGHKEEPSIE – Two men are in custody following a stabbing
that stemmed from an eviction in the City of Poughkeepsie late Friday
morning.
A neighbor who lives upstairs from the apartment where the incident
took place at 350 Main Street, who would only give her first name
of Carmen, told MidHudsonNews.com it happened as the result of a
landlord-tenant dispute.
“I thought they were punching him because I didn’t see
the knife, but when the landlord fell and they came down on him
again then I saw the knife; they got him dead in the head and blood
came out of his mouth,” she said. “They kept saying,
‘I’ll kill you; I’ll kill you,’ then they
started talking in another language. It’s terrible. Why would
you do that just for eviction?”
City Police said a 48-year-old city resident had been beaten and
stabbed. He was treated and released at St. Francis Hospital.
Ronald Lewin, 27, was charged with second degree assault, criminal
possession of a weapon, a knife, resisting arrest and obstructing
governmental administration. He tried to run from police, but was
apprehended. The second suspect is identified as Marlon Reynolds,
20. Both men share an apartment at 350 Main, said Det. Sgt. Matthew
Clark.
