Killer
of Good Samaritan pleads guilty
GOSHEN – The Middletown man who stabbed another man to death
with a knife after the victim tried to intercede in a fight, Thursday
pled guilty in Orange County Court to second-degree murder.
Back last summer at the Tall Oaks apartments in the City of Middletown,
Raymond Jackson, 42, stepped into an argument as a Good Samaritan
and it cost him his life, said District Attorney Frank Phillips.
Gilbert Judge, 39, was accused of the July 13, 2007 murder of Jackson,
who attempted to intervene in a dispute between Judge and another
person.
Judge went inside an apartment, came out with a knife and plunged
it into Jackson, killing him.
Middletown City Police were summoned to the scene and arrested Judge
immediately.
When sentenced next month, he faces 15 years to life in prison.
The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Lynda
Mitchell.
