Violation
of probation slapped on man involved in killing of retired cop
GOSHEN – Donald Carrington is currently being housed in the
Orange County Jail in Goshen awaiting a state Division of Parole
hearing that may determine if he goes back to prison.
Carrington, 38, was released from prison last July after serving
16 2/3rd years behind bars for burglary in the first degree in connection
with the murder of retired New York City Transit officer Alex Bodnar
in his Washingtonville home in August 1990.
Carrington stayed in the getaway car as his partner, Ronald Cummings
broke into the house. Cummings attacked Mrs. Patricia Bodnar and
stabbed her husband. He was able to make it to the bathroom to get
his loaded revolver and kill Cummings before he died.
Now, Carrington has been arrested by State Police on a parole violation
and Mrs. Bodnar said she had expected him to slip up sooner or later.
“Unfortunately it brings it right up front again, but at the
same time, I think it was a matter of time before he messed up,
and as they say, a leopard doesn’t change his spots.”
