Man
charged with breaking into store and doing extensive damage
MIDDLETOWN – State Police have charged a Wurtsboro man with
burglary for allegedly breaking into a store last month and doing
extensive damage to the interior.
On Monday, February 18, Middletown State Police BCI investigated
a burglary at the Twin Oaks Family Market at 250 Dolson Avenue in
the Town of Wawayanda.
Investigation revealed the flea market had been broken into during
the overnight hours with extensive damage done to the inside of
the building and several items of value taken, including an English
Shepherd puppy.
The puppy was later found left in the parking lot of the Middletown
Humane Society in Fair Oaks the next morning and returned to its
owner.
Following an investigation, police charged Robert Bennett, 35, of
Wurtsboro, on March 5 with burglary in the third degree, criminal
mischief in the second and third degrees and petit larceny.
He was remanded to the Orange County jail on $50,000 cash bail.
