POUGHKEEPSIE – A 49-year-old City of Poughkeepsie man is being held on drug charges after police searched his car and home.

City of Poughkeepsie Police had been investigating Robert Thomas, Jr. for two months and tried to pull him over Wednesday night when he was spotted driving in the area of 95 Smith Street.
He sped off in an attempt to elude the police, but was pulled over on the westbound arterial and tried to flee on foot when he was apprehended.

Police then searched his apartment and found more cocaine as well as packaging material and scales. A total of $700 in cash was also recovered.

Thomas was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a felony, reckless driving, and several vehicle and traffic violations.
