$50
debt leads to stabbing
PUTNAM VALLEY – The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office has
arrested an 18-year-old Beacon man on a charge of first-degree assault
for stabbing a Putnam Valley man several times with a four-inch
folding knife.
Police said Daniel Adorno allegedly stabbed Wayne Given, 20, over
a $50 debt.
Adorno was sitting outside a deli in Putnam Valley at about 5 p.m.
on Saturday, march 2 when he was approached by Given. A dispute
erupted over a purposed outstanding $50 debt.
The verbal argument escalated with Given being stabbed repeatedly
in the stomach, side, arm and back.
Adorno fled the scene and emergency services providers rushed Given
to the hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.
Some two hours later, Adorno’s mother called the police and
arranged for her son’s surrender. He was arraigned and remanded
to the Putnam County Jail on $10,000 bail or $20,000 bond.
