Two charged with possession of large amount
of cocaine
LIVINGSTON – Two North Adams, Massachusetts men have been
arrested by New York State Police from the Livingston barracks on
a charge of first-degree possession of a controlled substance after
they were found to have cocaine with an estimated street value of
$20,000 with them.
The two, identified as Joseph Montanye, 31, and Michael Wescott,
33, were stopped for speeding while traveling on the Taconic State
Parkway in the town of Taghkanic last Saturday evening.
An investigation by troopers found some 11 ounces of cocaine in
their vehicle.
They were arraigned and remanded to the Columbia County Jail with
no bail.
This is the third large quantity of drugs seized on the Taconic
in Columbia County in a month, State Police said.
