Two charged with sexually assaulting woman
in motel
NEWBURGH – Two men are in custody charged with rape in connection
with the sexual attack on a woman early Monday morning, Newburgh
Town Police said.
Police arrested Harold Hester, 28, of Forest Park, GA and Stanford
Dean, 19, of Quality Inn, Route 17K in Newburgh on charges of rape
in the first degree.
The victim, a woman in her 20s, reported she was talking with a
man on Broadway in Newburgh at about 2 a.m. when she was invited
back to the Quality Inn on Route 17K. She went with him and hung
out for a while before she was forcibly raped by the man and another
man who entered the room.
She was later driven back into the City of Newburgh by the first
suspect where she jumped from the car on Broadway.
Relatives brought her to St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital for
treatment and that’s when the police were alerted.
Town Police detectives and members of the multi-agency IMPACT Unit
investigated and obtained a search warrant for evidence in the room
where the incident took place.
It was then that police established the men committed the crime
and arrested them. They were arraigned and remanded to the Orange
County Jail, Hester on no bail and Dean on $50,000 bail.
