Connecticut men arrested in connection with
Putnam bank robbery
PATTERSON – Three Connecticut men have been arrested on robbery
charges stemming from the January 2 holdup of a bank in the Town
of Patterson.
The men held up the Putnam County National Bank at Haviland Drive
at about 9:40 a.m. in January.
Two of the men had entered the bank and handed a teller a note demanding
money.
The teller gave them an undisclosed amount of cash before they fled
the scene in a in a car driven by a third person.
During a four-month investigation by the Putnam County Sheriff’s
Office, police developed information that the suspects were from
nearby Fairfield, CT. Police from Danbury, CT assisted with the
Putnam County District Attorney’s Office.
Police located two of the men in Danbury.
Eugene Wells, 44, and Christopher Coffey, both of Newtown, where
sent to New York where they were charged with robbery in the second
degree.
A few days later, a third suspect, Mario Dellangelo, Jr., 46, of
New Fairfield, was located. He is incarcerated in the Gates Correctional
Facility in Niantic, CT, serving a jail sentence for violating probation
on an unrelated charge. A second-degree robbery charge was lodged
against him.
If convicted, the men could be sentenced to up to 15 years in state
prison.
