Father gets 20 years for beating his baby
to death
WHITE PLAINS – A 22-year-old Yonkers man was sentenced Friday
to 20 years in state prison on his guilty plea to manslaughter in
the first degree in connection with the death of his infant daughter,
Heaven.
Darryl Bolton was babysitting for his the victim and his two-year-old
daughter when a 911 call was made by the baby’s paternal grandmother
that she was having trouble breathing. The girl’s mother left
for work at 12:30 p.m. both children were fine.
When EMS workers arrived, they found the one-year-old unresponsive,
with no pulse and cool to the touch. She also had obvious bruising
on her face and abdomen.
Bolton later told the child’s mother not to get mad or tell
her family, but the baby just stopped breathing. He also told his
mother that the child suffered a bump on the head when she accidentally
rolled off a bed.
The child was pronounced dead the next morning.
She had several blunt force trauma injuries with fractured ribs,
humerus and several lacerations of internal organs.
