convicted man in just over half hour
GOSHEN – It took an Orange County Court jury just 36 minutes
Wednesday to find Daniel Charlton of Highland Mills guilty of robbery
and other charges stemming from a February 3, 2007 incident in the
Town of New Windsor.
Charlton was convicted of three counts of third-degree robbery,
attempted grand larceny in the fourth degree and three counts of
petit larceny in connection with the crime, said District Attorney
Frank Phillips.
“At that time Charlton forcibly stole property belonging
to a female as well as property belonging to the Tanning Hut, a
business in New Windsor, that property being money and a telephone,”
he said.
DNA evidence was helpful in getting the conviction, Phillips said.
Charlton is has a prior felony and when sentenced next month, faces
up to seven years in prison.
