Former teacher sentenced for having sex with student

GOSHEN – Former McQuade Children’s Services teacher Rebecca Becker was sentenced Wednesday to three months in the Orange County Jail for having sex with a teenage boy from the school.

She had admitted to the incident and pled guilty to a charge of third-degree rape.

The 29-year-old could have received up to six months in jail.

A co-defendant, Maria Zurita, 29, a former teacher’s aide at the New Windsor school, was convicted recently of endangering the welfare of a child. She was sentenced to one year in the county jail; her attorney is appealing that.
