guilty in robbery, homicide
WHITE PLAINS – Two men were convicted and one pled guilty
in connection with the death of a Mount Vernon man.
Warren Davis, 24, and Lloyd Braham, 26, both of Mount Vernon, were
found guilty in Westchester County Court Tuesday in connection with
the June 29, 2007 death of Newville Brett.
Davis was convicted on two counts of second-degree murder, six
counts of first-degree robbery, three counts of first-degree burglary
and one count of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.
Braham was convicted on a charge of criminal possession of a weapon
in the second degree.
A third defendant, Carlos Jean-Baptiste, 18, also of Mount Vernon,
pled guilty to one count of murder in the second degree.
A fourth person, Andrew Crewe, 26, of Mount Vernon, is awaiting
trial.
Brett was found shot dead inside a basement apartment.
Mount Vernon Police investigated and learned the men were in the
area with the intent of robbing and burglarizing people in the victim’s
building.
When the men forced their way into the apartment, they had three
occupants lie on the floor at gunpoint. They found a fourth victim,
Brett, outside the apartment, struck him in the head with a pistol
and forced him inside into the bedroom and onto the floor, where
he was robbed. Jean-Baptiste then shot him in the back as he lay
face down on the floor.
