Man sits on suspect until police arrive

NEWBURGH – A man who found a suspect sitting in his car in front of his house in the City of Newburgh pulled him out and sat on him until police arrived.

Police arrested Livis Oneil Robinson, 40, of 45 Dubois Street in Newburgh.

The victim told city police that shortly after he returned on to his 238 Powell Avenue resident at 9:45 p.m. on Sunday night, he realized he hadn’t locked his car. When he went outside, he saw the interior light on and as he approached, he saw a man sitting in the front seat going through the glove box.

Robinson had taken music CDs, about $50 in cash and the victim’s work ID.

Police questioned the suspect, who gave them a false name; they learned his true identity when an officer recognized him.

Robinson was charged with petit larceny, criminal mischief in the fourth degree and false personation.
