Man convicted of slashing woman

GOSHEN – A 26-year-old Town of Wallkill man was convicted Thursday of assaulting a woman by slashing her face.

It took an Orange County Court jury three hours to find Kareem Jackson guilty of assault in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, said District Attorney Frank Phillips.

“The jury found that Jackson caused physical injury to Tanya Smith by means of a sharp object. That object was not recovered,” When he is sentenced next month, he faces up to seven years in state prison.

Jackson remains in the Orange County Jail without bail. Chief Assistant DA Michael Milza prosecuted the case.
